Bangor Rotary Club takes the Festival of Lights on the road

BANGOR – As coronavirus cases continue to impact our communities, the Rotary Club of Bangor is planning, once again this year, to host its Festival of Lights event instead of the traditional holiday parade. Organized in partnership with the Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau, the Downtown Bangor Partnership and Links Web Design, the Bangor Rotary Club invites businesses, nonprofits, private landlords, municipal organizations and entire neighborhoods to create themselves festive and colorful play of light. places, and the public can see them at their leisure.

Announcement of the Festival of Lights 2021! From December 4 to January 2, the public is invited to drive by participating homes and organizations and enjoy light shows from the safety of their own vehicles. Then vote for your favorites by visiting bangorrotary.org Where visitbangormaine.com. There will be five categories to vote on, with the best recipient of the vote being honored with the best overall. The competition categories are:

  • Exceptional non-profit display
  • Exceptional residential signage
  • Exceptional commercial display
  • Exceptional municipal signage
  • Exceptional neighborhood display
  • Overall Best / Fan Favorite (Most Votes)

Trophies will be awarded to all winners and a cash prize of $ 500 for the light show voted best overall!

Maps showing directions to participating locations will be provided on the websites listed above.

In addition, the Bangor Rotary Club will once again dress up the downtown Bangor holiday tree with updated lighting and decorations. We’ll be lighting the tree on Saturday, December 4th in West Market Square to officially launch our community-wide contest.
