A Coral Springs gastroenterologist has pleaded not guilty in two cases involving allegedly sending sexually explicit material to underage girls, court records show.
Stewart Bitman, 65, of Parkland, pleaded not guilty after his arrest in June for transmitting harmful material to a minor; use a computer for the purpose of child exploitation; promote sexual performance by a child; and four counts of obscene or lascivious display, according to Broward County Circuit Court records.
Bitman was first arrested by authorities in January 2021 for sending sexually-oriented text messages and nude photos of himself to a 13-year-old child, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. In that case, he pleaded not guilty to the charges of using a computer for the purpose of exploiting children, as well as three counts of transmitting harmful material to a minor, according to court records. .
In an arrest affidavit, BSO described Bitman’s most recent alleged crimes as a continuation of his previous illegal activities allegedly carried out online in 2020.
He is currently free on more than $ 140,000 in bond for both cases, according to records.
The next scheduled hearing date for Bitman is September 2.
