Extended application deadline for the Hilo Muni restaurant concession

The Department of Parks and Recreation has extended the submission deadline for the lease for the operation of a restaurant concession on the Hilo Municipal Golf Course (“Hilo Muni”) to September 14, 2021.

The corresponding Intent to Bid document, required from all entities wishing to bid on the lease, is now due on September 9, 2021.

The lease is for an initial term of six years, from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2027, with future options for two additional two-year extensions. In addition, the lease grants the successful bidder the exclusive right to provide food and beverage services at the Hilo Municipal Golf Course.

“We encourage all interested parties to visit the Hilo Muni clubhouse and get a feel for the great potential of this business opportunity for the right restaurant to thrive in Hilo,” said Maurice Messina, Director of Parks and Recreation. “We cannot stress enough that it is essential that interested bidders view and download the tender documents online and then submit their intention to bid well in advance of the September 9 deadline. Missing this critical bid (the intention to bid) will disqualify a business from bidding on this rare restaurant opportunity.

Located in the new Hilo Muni clubhouse, the 2,400 square foot Main Dining Room overlooks the first hole fairway and seats up to 163 people. In addition to the 800 square foot kitchen, the lease includes a patio for outside seating, an office, dedicated storage areas, and shared use of the golf course washroom and parking lot.
