Frontier Alumni Organize Golf Race | News, Sports, Jobs

The 1969-1990 classes of the Frontier High School Alumni Association recently held their 10th annual four-way golf race on May 7.

Said stampede took place at the St. Marys WV Golf Course in St. Marys WV. Despite the very wet start to the race, we had a great time.

The weather was cool and wet, but it was a wonderful day. A breakfast of glazed donuts was offered before the start of the race.

The 18 teams that signed up for the day of golf stuck to their game and at 9 a.m. the golfers began playing their 18 rounds of golf.

A burger/hot dog picnic style lunch was provided.

When registering for the scramble, a pack of three golf balls was given to each player. Initially, skill prizes were awarded, door prizes were won, and we had a 50/50 winner.

On behalf of the Alumni Association, I would like to thank all golfers, everyone who helped out with the 10th Annual Golf Tournament, those who sponsored a hole and everyone who donated and/or prepared food. Without everyone’s help, this successful fundraiser could not continue.

Congratulations to Marshall Lamp and his team for 1st place, Curt Satterfield and his team for 2nd place, Billy Wren and his team for 3rd place.

The most important part of the day was fundraising for the Frontier Alumni Association’s scholarship fund. For the past 10 years, the Alumni Association has been able to award 2 seniors in the class a scholarship of $500 each.

Next year, if you are a senior at FHS or have a graduating senior in the 2022-2023 class, be sure to stop by the Guidance Department and get a scholarship application.

The annual alumni meeting was canceled in 2020 and 2021 due to the corona virus outbreak. The Frontier Alumni Association 1969-1990 is very pleased to announce that the meeting is underway for the year 2022.

Due to the corona virus outbreak in 2022, we have been delayed in preparing for our second weekend in June. We have chosen a date later in the year of August 19-20. Information was sent via social media, emails and letters.

If you have not received information and would like to receive a reservation form, please contact your class representative or call Jeff Beaver at 740-374-4026.

In May 2023, please consider assembling a team to participate in our 11th annual golf tournament.

To participate in the tournament you don’t need to be a Frontier Alumni, we encourage anyone who loves the game to come and enjoy the day with us. Release details will be available much closer to that date.

Thanks again to this year’s tournament golfers and everyone who contributed to the success of the event.
