Alexis Lafrenière, with a stick and a flick of the wrist, tied the New York Rangers pre-season record at 2-2. The happy and lucky young star also sent her team on a long liaison trip to Rhode Island, smiling ear to ear.
âWe played well tonight,â said coach Gérard Gallant after the 4-3 victory. âWe have the next three days for our liaison trip and that really helps get into that. Guys are pretty positive about it so it will be fun.
New York Rangers headed for team-building trip
The Rangers’ next game will be Wednesday, October 6 against the Devils at MSG. Starting today, they’re heading to Rhode Island for some golf, archery, and shenanigans as part of a planned liaison trip.
“[The trip] is huge, especially for the coaching staff, âsaid Gallant. âWe meet a lot of players – you are starting to get to know them. There are also a lot of new players here joining the squad so I think that’s great.
Ryan Strome, who scored the first goal to start the Rangers, joked that he wasn’t able to share what the team had planned. He gave a little insight into the upcoming festivities.

âWe’re going to play golf, we’re going to do things with guys like archery and stuff like that,â Strome said. “It’s just a great way to get everyone together without the distractions – just get together with the guys and learn more about them.”
Strome explained that the difficulties of playing during the pandemic kept them from doing things like team dinners. “It’s just a chance to get used to our teammates, learn new guys and come together as a team,” he concluded.
