Homicide: Block 600 of Parkland Place, southeast

Detectives of the The Metropolitan Police Department’s homicide division is investigating a homicide that occurred Thursday, October 7, 2021 in Block 600 of Parkland Place in the southeast.

At approximately 7:25 am, members of the Seventh District responded to the location indicated for the stabbing. Upon arrival, members located an adult female victim who was apparently suffering from stab wounds. DC Fire and EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital for treatment. After all rescue efforts failed, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The suspect was apprehended at the scene by the agents in charge of the intervention.

The deceased was identified as Talaya Wright, 41, from Southeast, DC.

Thursday, October 7, 2021, Waynice Ellis, 29, homeless, was arrested and charged with Second degree murder while armed.
