The Parkland Health Center recently announced that Amanda Leftridge, MSW, LCSW, has been selected as an employee of Our BJC Values for July 2021. Leftridge is a Certified Clinical Social Worker at Parkland’s Cancer and Infusion Center and has worked at PHC for 2 years.
Part of Leftridge’s appointment reads: “She is an invaluable asset to both her colleagues and to her patients. Every day Amanda comes to work with a great attitude and is eager to help everyone. She works with staff to consistently provide the best patient care and transparently juggles many roles and responsibilities within our department. Amanda gives each patient and their family her full attention and listens to their every need. She coordinates transportation services to make sure patients can book their appointments, and she has been instrumental in helping patients get free or discounted medication. She also works with other departments and organizations to fund nutritional and other supplies for patients. “
“I felt both surprised and blessed. I work with an incredible team of healthcare professionals in oncology, who all deserve this same recognition, ”Leftridge said of being recognized. “Knowing that my team took their time to suggest me is an honor. I appreciate each of them and I could not provide what I do for patients without their own passion and dedication to our service.
Leftridge did not start his career in social work. “I didn’t go back to college for social work until I was 35,” she said. “At that time, I had been employed for 15 years in the field of hemodialysis, as a technician.
