Munster wards off Wasps at Thomond Park


Munster beat Wasps 45-7 in Pool A of the Heineken Champions Cup this afternoon.

That’s four wins out of four for Johann van Graan’s team.

Two tries from Simon Zebo were the icing on the cake for an in-form side heading into the knockout stages.

Elsewhere, Connacht lost 37-31 to Stade Français in their last pool game.

The Westerners had already reached the knockout stage before the game.


Chelsea found their way back to winning ways by beating Tottenham 2-0 in the main Premier League game of the day

Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Siilva with the hosts’ goals at Stamford Bridge.

Elsewhere today, Liverpool beat Crystal Palace 3-1 at Selhurst Park thanks to goals from Virgil van Dijk and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and a penalty from Fabinho.

The victory reduces Manchester City’s lead at the top of the table to nine points and Liverpool have a trump card in their hand.

While Arsenal missed out on the chance to break into the top four as they played out a scoreless draw with Burnley at the Emirates.

And it ended 1-1 between Leicester City and Brighton at the King Power Stadium.


Kilkenny’s Ballyhale Shamrocks beat champions Galway St. Thomas’ by a single point in the AIB All-Ireland Club Senior Hurling Championship Semi-Final at Semple Stadium today.

TJ Reid with both goals for the Shamrocks in the game that finished 2-15 at 20 points.

They will face Waterford’s Ballygunner in the decider.

They beat champions Derry Slaughtneil 2-19 to 1-17 in their semi-final at Parnell Park earlier.

Seamus Power entered his final round of the American Express Championship.

The Waterford native starts the day 16 under par, 4th in the standings and just two shots off the lead.

Paul Barjon of France and Lee Hodges of the United States share the lead at 18 and under.


Shane Lowry and Rory McIlroy finished tied for 12th at the Abu Dhabi Championship today.

McIlroy shot a 69-3-under final round while Lowry was 5-over today which left them both at 5-under.

Belgian Thomas Pieters won by a shot on 10 under.

Padraig Harrington finished with 4 under.


The Paul Fahey trained ‘Ballyshannon Rose’ won the race at Thurles today the EBF Mares Novice Steeplechase.

This was after leaving at a starting price of 7 to 2.
