North Alabama spring review: Emmah Rolfe pitches a perfect match for Bob Jones

Bob Jones went 3-0 in softball at Gulf Shores on Monday as Auburn signee Emmah Rolfe pitched a perfect game in a 1-0 win over Station Camp, Tennessee, and combined with AJ Vineski for a no-hitter on Tuscaloosa County.

Rolfe knocked out 14 Station Camp batters in the perfect win.

The Patriots beat Tuscaloosa County 9-0.

Vineski was the winning pitcher for Bob Jones (9-5-1) in a 4-0 win over Greenbrier, Tenn.

In other spring sports:

SOFTBALL

Hazel Green 12, Ravenwood (Tennis) 3: Hazel Green’s bats came to life in the win over the team from Brentwood, Tennessee. Caroline Cartron, Mia Fowler and Mariah Bazile each had 3 RBIs. Cartron was 2 for 4 with a double, Fowler was 2 for 2 and Bazile had a triple. Raegan Wall was 2 for 4 in the win.

Also on Monday, Hazel Green lost to Sparkman, 5-3. Wall was 2 for 2 and Bazile was 1 for 1 with an RBI. Mason Quinnie allowed no earned runs in 2 innings pitched.

Athens Bible 13-20, Tanner 0-2: Claire Holt of Athens Bible tied two AHSAA records with 4 successful pitches in game two of the double header sweep and 2 HBP in one inning. Holt also went 3-for-3 in Game 1 with a double and 3 RBIs. Cana Vining was 3 for 3 with a double and 4 RBIs in the opener.

Vining allowed 1 hit and struck out 5 on 3 innings pitched in Game 1. Brook Blakely pitched 2 no-hitter innings with 1 strikeout.

In Game 2, Athens Bible (8-1), had 3 RBIs each from Bailey Davis (2 for 3), Addyson Butler (1-2) and Ragan Hamm (1-1). Destiny Burns pitched 2 innings, allowing 2 hits with 3 strikeouts. Holt pitched a no-hitter inning with 3 strikeouts.

BASEBALL

Madison Academy 12-5, West Point 1-4: The Mustangs swept West Point in a double-header to improve to 7-6 on the season. Earlier, Madison Academy fell 6-5 to Grissom and lost a double header to Northridge, 6-5, 6-0.

Alex Wade and William Burgreen hit .500 in the 2-3 week. Carson Creehan had 6 RBIs.

Central-Florence 4, Limestone West 3: J. Preston Langston and Michael Larkin had 2 hits apiece in Monday’s home win.

Logan Navas and Braxton Griffin were both 2-for-3 with 1 RBI for West Limestone. Keegan Laxson doubled in the loss.

GIRLS SOCCER

Morgan West 9, Hamilton 0: West Morgan exploded for 7 goals in the second half in a home game on Monday. Brandy Hernandez scored 5 goals and an assist in the rout.

Jackye Delgado scored 2 goals and delivered 2 assists. Jolie Dalton and Madison Parker also scored for the Rebels. Diana Romero had 1 save in the win.

West Morgan is 4-3 overall and 3-2 in Zone 14 of Class 4A/5A.

GOLF

the Huntsville Boys The golf team finished sixth out of 24 teams competing in the Wynlakes High School Golf Tournament. Morgan Slaton made all of the tournaments after finishing in a tie for second place. Trent Trousdale finished 11th in the field of around 130.

the Huntsville Girls finished second (out of 20 teams) in the Hoover March Madness Tournament. All-tournament performer Gabi Nicastro led the way, shooting 73 on day two of the event.
