The Ryder Cup-style tournament will take place January 22-23 at Texas Rangers Golf Club.
ARLINGTON, Texas – Some of the best junior golfers in the country will face off this weekend in the inaugural Texas Showdown Golf Tournament.
The North Texas and South Texas teams consist of 12 golfers each ages eight to eleven.
The tournament will take place on Saturday January 22 and Sunday January 23 at the Texas Rangers Golf Club in Arlington, Texas.
“I’m excited about the team format and the rowdy atmosphere of the Ryder Cup,” said Beckett McLaughlin (Team South). “We’re going to show the North who owns Texas.”
Texas Terry (Austin) will compete for Team South, six months after winning the US Kids World Championship.
Reed Rodriguez, one of the best golfers in the country for his age group, will also play for the South.
“I enjoy playing with other talented players and we have formed friendships with many of the best players in the state,” said Team North’s Cole Murphy.
The majority of the boys competing come from the Dallas-Fort Worth, Prosper, Houston and Austin areas.
Trinity Forest Golf Club, Tribute Golf Club, Integrity Golf Performance (IGP) and Altus Performance all played a special and integral role in making this tournament possible.
“I’ve really enjoyed coaching a number of players from Team North,” said Altus High Performance Coach Nick Dunn. “They are fearless competitors. I couldn’t be more excited to support them and play a role in their development throughout their golf journey.
To support the North Texas golf community, the tournament also donated $1,000 to the First Tee of Dallas.
The event is open to the public.
