Panthers announce 2021-22 roster – High Point University Athletics

HIGH POINT, NC – High Point University Women’s Golf Head Coach Alexis bennett unveiled his team’s 2021-22 schedule on Tuesday afternoon (August 3).

The timeline is highlighted by five of the 10 events in the state of North Carolina, including two in Greensboro, and two more in South Carolina for 70% of the events scheduled in the Carolinas.

“This is by far the most competitive program I have been able to put together during my time at High Point,” Bennett said. “We are reaching a turning point as a program where we have bet on fairness to lay a renewed foundation. The High Point program begins at the Pirate Collegiate Classic hosted by East Carolina in Greenville, NC on September 20-21, one of two events hosted by ECU on the Panthers program. This will be the first round at Greenville Country Club since fall 2017 for the Purple and White and the seventh time they have played there overall after the tournament was called the Lady Pirate Intercollegiate for most of the previous decade. .

HPU returns to the Triad the following weekend for Bryan National Collegiate in Greensboro for the first event the Panthers played at Bryan Park Golf Course before heading west in October. The Panthers return to Tacoma, Washington for the Pat Lesser-Harbottle Invitational at the Tacoma Country Club on October 11-12, the second time High Point has played in the event with the first coming in fall 2019.

Another tournament in Greensboro at the Grandover Resort on November 1-2 and the French Broad Invitational in Asheville, NC a week later round out the fall list for purple and white. HPU was scheduled to play in the French Broad Intercollegiate during the 2019-2020 season, but was unable to do so after the season was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

High Point will begin the spring season in Sunshine State with the First Coast Classic in Jacksonville, Fla. On February 14-15. North Florida hosts the event, which will be HPU’s first trip to Jacksonville since fourth place at the BUBBA Burger Classic in 2019. Two weeks later, the Purples and Whites are in Charleston for the first time since the 2016 season. -17 at the Rivertowne Invitational February 28-March 1 before heading to Georgia for the second year in a row at Pinetree Collegiate on March 21-22, hosted by Kennesaw State – the premier High Point tournament in Kennesaw, Georgia.

The final tournament before the Deep South Championships is familiar to Bennett and the Panthers as they return to Greenville for the Ironwood Invitational at the Ironwood Country Club on April 4-5. The Purples and Whites were in action at Ironwood to close out last year’s regular season as well, placing seventh as a team at the ECU Easter Invitational, an event the recent graduate Samantha vodry won medalist honors at home and rising junior redshirt Sarah kahn finished in the top-25.

For the fifth year in a row (minus the shortened 2020 season), the Deep South Championships will be held at the Patriot Golf Course at Grand Harbor in Ninety Six, SC from April 13-16. The format will be the same as last year, where all teams will compete in three rounds of stroke play over three days before the top four teams advance to the match play semi-finals and the championship on last day. High Point advanced to the knockout semi-finals last year the first year they were held on the women’s side after finishing fourth in the stroke game championships.
