Portage County Amateur and Youth Golf News and Notes for May 29

The first of two NOPGA-hosted 36-hole junior series championships was played at Ashland Country Club in Ashland as young golfers vie for the opportunity to play the Notah Begay III Jr. National Championship.

In boys 16-19, Dylan Dunn of Stow, champion, and Dillon Pendergast of Mogadore, third.

Grace Vidovic of Aurora took second place in the Girls 11-15 category.

Following the conclusion of the two 36-hole Junior Series Championships, the second at the Windmill Golf Club in Ravenna on July 13-14, the junior golfers qualifying for the national event will be announced.

Fox Den hosts the US Kids Tournament

Rootstown’s Mason Dillon finished third in the US Kids Tournament at Fox Den in Stow.

Dillon shot a 5-over par 42 in the 9-year-old boys division.

Aurora’s Nicholas Pollak tied for second among the boys 11-year-olds, finishing 18 holes at 10 of 82.

In the boys 13-14 division, Jacob Rainieri of Mogadore finished fifth, with a score of 8 out of 80.
