Surrey Heath Sports Awards 2021

This year, Camberley Judo Club Olympic hero Ashley McKenzie received an Olympic Excellence Award in recognition of her accomplishments.

His impressive resume includes a Commonwealth gold medal in 2014, as well as a three-time Olympian.

Congratulations to the SHSA 2021 winners:

Sporting Moment of the Year The Massage Company – Harley Coster (JB Ski)

Despite competing in slalom and water skiing for less than 18 months, Harley won the UK Under-12 Slalom Championships, including a 2nd in vault and a 3rd in trick.

Surrey Community Safety Project of the Year – Surrey Heath Primary School Sports Association (SHPSSA)

SHPSSA’s dedicated group of teachers, coaches and physical education leaders have innovated to ensure that Surrey Heath primary schools have ample opportunities for students to be active during a particularly difficult time.

Surrey Playing Fields Volunteer of the Year – Alison Butler (C&F Hockey Club)

Alison has led the junior section of the C&F Hockey Club since 2013 and has helped it grow to over 200 members. She also coordinates hockey festivals and is responsible for the well-being of the club.

Herrington Carmichael Disability Sports Award – Simon White (Valley End CC Rascals)

Simon’s training played a big part in the success of the Rascals. It ensures that all players have an equal opportunity to develop their skills and improve their self-confidence.

Outstanding Full Coach Service Award – Barry Snell (Surrey Soo Bahk Do)

Barry has been a dedicated Soo Bahk Do coach for over 32 years and has offered his skills to all ages and abilities, including supporting his club after local blockages with free outdoor sessions.

The nominees were shortlisted by an internal panel before the winners were selected by the Surrey Heath Sports Council last month. Thanks to our generous sponsors.

The award ceremonies take place in the form of a roadshow, with the winners presented with their trophies in locations across the borough.
