Olympic and Commonwealth swimmer Ross Davenport has supported the relaunch of Ashby Leisure Center & Lido.
Ross said the rebranded site will be a success after official completion on Saturday.
Ross, who won double gold at the 2006 Commonwealth Games, helped revive the facility, previously known as Hood Park Leisure Center.
Derby County FC captain Hannah Ward has joined the 37-year-old in supporting a program of one-day events.
They celebrated the name change, the £ 1.2million redevelopment of the site and the launch of the Ashby-by-the-Sea brand, which relates to the lido element of the center.
Ross said: “The site’s name change to Ashby Leisure Center & Lido will raise the profile of the outdoor swimming pool in the area.
“I hope the local community and people from further afield will be encouraged to use the amazing facility they have here.
“The lido looks great, and I’m sure people of all ages will enjoy the improvements and the center as a whole for many years to come.”
34 tasting sessions, including fitness classes, play sessions and sporting activities, were held on site, managed by award-winning operator Everyone Active in partnership with the North West Leicestershire District Council.
A 2008 World Championships silver medalist, Ross also faced a four-length relay team from the Coalville Swimming Club in a four-length race in the lido, with the result ruled a draw.
The last remaining public lido in the East Midlands, the outdoor pool has benefited from several upgrades, with a beach play area and beach hut among the upgrades added.
Every Active contract manager Duncan Gibb said: “We are happy with the way the day went and hope the name change will help raise awareness of the lido outside of the immediate area.
“We encourage anyone who wishes to visit to contact us, and I am sure they will appreciate the changes that have been made.”
