West Midlands luxury spas named Good Spa Guide 2022 finalists

Six Midlands spas have been named among the best in the country in this year’s Good Spa Guide. The awards offer an expert guide to showcasing the best of the UK spa industry.

People can vote in each of the nine categories between May 16 and June 6. The Belfry Spa near Sutton Coldfield was shortlisted in the Best Spa Day category, while Hoar Cross Hall in Staffordshire is a finalist in the Best Hotel Spa category.

Malvern Spa in Worcestershire was nominated in the Best Health Club Spa category, and Moddershall Oaks, also in Staffordshire, is in the Best Wellness Spa category. Meanwhile, The Elms Hotel and Greenhouse Spa in Worcestershire is shortlisted in the Best Boutique Spa category – while The House Spa at Dormy House, also in Worcestershire, is shortlisted in two categories, Best Boutique Spa and Best Spa for Guest Experience.

According to the Good Spa Guide website, there have been “some excellent nominations this year, showcasing the best of the UK spa industry”. Here is an overview of the six spas that have been shortlisted.

The Belfry Hotel and Spa

The Belfry Hotel and Spa, near Sutton Coldfield, is a resort set in over 550 acres of countryside, not far from Birmingham city centre. The spa offers a range of ESPA treatments, a decadent relaxation room and a nail and beauty studio.

The spa also offers a fire and ice experience – which includes a foot spa, showers, caldarium, igloo, aromatic steam rooms, sanarium, sauna and hydrotherapy pool. While the leisure club has a large swimming pool and two hot tubs, as well as a cafe with an outdoor terrace.

Other features of The Belfry include a relaxation room with daybeds, dual treatment rooms, and family swim sessions. It was also a finalist for the Good Spa Guide Awards 2021.

The Elms Hotel and Greenhouse Spa

You can find The Elms Hotel and Greenhouse Spa in Abberley, not far from Stourport, Worcestershire. And it is located in beautiful countryside.

The spa is housed in a modern annex behind the hotel, surrounded by pretty gardens. Guests can swim lengths in the spa’s heated indoor pool, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows, before enjoying the indoor-outdoor pool with bubbling jets.

Spa facilities include a steam room, sauna, ice fountain and rain shower. There is also a rooftop terrace and a garden café. The Elms was also a 2019 finalist for the Good Spa Guide Awards.

White Cross Hall

Hoar Cross Hall is nestled in the Staffordshire countryside and offers an idyllic spa destination – whether it’s a day at the spa or a short break. It has two swimming pools, relaxation areas and spa facilities.

A selection of face and body treatments are available, using Elemis and VOYA products. Other popular spa features include a hydrotherapy pool with jets, a Nordic heat and ice suite, heated loungers, and waterbeds.

There is also a large gym, a daily schedule of classes and an Italian-style water garden. Hoar Cross Hall was the winner of the Good Spa Guide Awards 2021.

The Malvern Spa

Located in Malvern, Worcestershire, Malvern Spa is modern with a contemporary boutique feel. It is also the only swimming pool in the UK filled with natural spring water from Malvern.

There are six different thermal experiences and a relaxation area – making The Malvern a destination spa. Other spa features include an indoor and outdoor hydrotherapy pool, Kelo sauna, salt grotto, and crystal steam room.

There are also four adventure shower experiences, luxury treatment rooms and fitness classes. The Malvern Spa was also a 2021 finalist in the Good Spa Guide Awards.

The in-house spa at Dormy House

Located on Broadway, on the outskirts of Worcestershire, is The House Spa at Dormy House. This is a superb renovated Cotswold farmhouse.

The modern spa contrasts clean Scandinavian design with Cotswold stone, while facilities include a 16-meter infinity pool, thermal experiences, a champagne nail salon, and a fully equipped gym. A variety of treatments are available at Temple Spa and Natura Bissé.

There’s also a lavender-infused sauna, a Finnish hot juniper cabin, soaking showers, and a Rasul mud room. The House Spa at Dormy House was a finalist in the Good Spa Guide Awards 2020.

Moddershall Oaks

Moddershall Oaks, based in Stone, Staffordshire, is set in 72 acres of scenic countryside. Their facilities include three swimming pools, a kelo sauna, a steam room and a sensory shower.

It also has reflexology foot baths, a sleep lounge and a cozy relaxation room with an open fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the gardens. You can also explore the woods and walk around the private lake.

There’s also a catering bar, nail salon, boutique spa, and tennis courts. Moddershall Oaks was a 2019 Good Spa Guide Awards finalist.
